Fusion filmmaking

Filmmaking students editing their film.
This week I delivered another bespoke filmmaking workshop through Film Oxford for communications staff on-site at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy.
The 2-day course was a 'fusion' of filming, editing and graphics. It was mostly practical as the delegates wanted hands-on experience with a little theory as to how this might be applied in practice.
On the first day we covered production; shoot preparation, lighting, camera and sound recording. We then filmed a subject presenting a piece to camera and associated action with consideration to the different angles required to make a short demonstration film.
Day 2 was post-production; I introduced the students to Adobe Premiere Pro and they took turns importing media, evaluating footage and assembling the programme with basic titles.

It's always a bit hairy when you go into a new environment and have a lot to teach to new people using their equipment but so much easier when they are hospitable and keen to learn like Nick, Sarah and Greg.

Student feedback: "Andy has a lot of expertise but made the course clear and understandable for us".
